Equipment Technician
POSITION
Equipment Technician. Full-time. Monday through Friday. Hours:
8 AM to 5 PM with one hour off for lunch and breaks. Some flexibility in
this schedule may be arranged to accommodate personal requirements. The
job is located in Farmers Branch, Texas.

PARTIAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The
primary
function of the Equipment Technician is to
repair and recondition equipment used internally by the company.
Similarly, the Equipment Technician will perform revenue generating equipment repairs for outside
customers. Additional duties will include ordering parts and
maintaining inventory, accepting deliveries, and facilitating shipments.
Duties will also include maintaining the Tech Room and the Warehouse in a
neat and orderly condition. Because this is a new and expanded shop,
the Equipment Technician will also play a part in set-up, the procurement of
additional tools, and the overall design of a first class service operation.
The position will require the use of a personal motor vehicle to pick-up and
deliver small items (such as tools or parts) and to perform service calls.
(The use of a personal motor vehicle will be reimbursed at a pre-established
per-mile rate.) The Equipment Technician will have the
opportunity to give equipment demonstrations to potential buyers. The
Service Technician will also be given related assignments too numerous to
mention or impossible to anticipate at this time.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The
primary purpose of this position is to ensure that crews working for the
company always have equipment in good working condition.
Equipment utilized by company employees must always be working effectively,
efficiently, and
safely. Like most mechanical devices, equipment utilized in this
industry requires routine maintenance, the replacement of parts, and
sometimes complete reconditioning. Outside customers of the company
will require these services as well and the repair center
gives the company another revenue generating business segment.
TYPES OF EQUIPMENT TO
BE REPAIRED
Although the list below is not exhaustive of the types of equipment that
will require repair and reconditioning, it does cover the majority of items:

Electric Buffers - (high speed and slow speed);
-
Automatic Floor Scrubbers (battery powered);
-
Vacuum Cleaners and Wet Vacuums (cord electric);
-
Propane Buffers and Scrubbers (powered by small internal combustion
engines);
-
Electric Chargers for Automatic Floor Scrubbers; and,
-
Janitorial equipment, such as mop buckets and carts, that will require
wheel lubrication and replacements, cleaning, etc.
REQUIRED SKILL SET
A strong mechanical aptitude is essential for this
position. The job will require the Equipment Technician to
repair a broad assortment of equipment used in the
building maintenance industry. Furthermore, within this equipment set,
there will be a wide range of manufactures, models, sizes, and machine ages
that will essentially make every repair different. Experience and/or
education in repairing similar equipment is certainly a plus.
Attention to detail is an essential trait because repairs must be made
correctly and completely the first time. General organizational skills
will be required as well because the Equipment Technician will be required
to maintain work flow, inventory, warehouse organization, etc.

COMPENSATION
There is no preset hourly pay rate for this position.
Instead, the following factors will be considered in establishing the pay rate:

general
experience in a mechanical trade;
-
specific
experience in the industry;
-
related
training programs that have been successfully completed; and,
-
revenue
earning ability for the company made possible by the Equipment
Technician's ability.
After commencement
of the job, a pay increase progression may be established. In this
event, the beginning skill set of the Equipment Technician would be
determined and then pay increases would be awarded as the Equipment
Technician's skill set improves. Furthermore, profit sharing in
revenue generating repairs may be negotiated after an initial period of
dedicated and exemplary service is fulfilled by the Equipment Technician.
