CAREER OPPORTUNITY
SALES REPRESENTATIVE
Braxton Building Maintenance is seeking
qualified applicants for the position of a professional Sales Representative.
This person will be based in Farmers Branch. It is likely that the majority of
outside sales activities will be within 15 miles of the office.
This is a full-time job that will require
concentration of effort and focus during the normal working hours. Anybody who
is looking for a part-time position or supplemental income to another job or
business activity should not consider this career opportunity. |

PURPOSE
The primary purpose of a Sales
Representative at Braxton Building Maintenance is to actively pursue and
acquire profitable service contracts and product sales for the Company.
This is most commonly accomplished through one-on-one interaction with
Prospective Customers who the Sales Representative identifies as those
businesses that can benefit from the Company's products and services. The
Company's investment in a Sales Representative must result in increased
sales and profits.
Another purpose of a Sales Representative
is to enhance the overall exposure and image of the Company. Additionally,
the Company may run awareness campaigns directed at Prospective Customers
that will call for the involvement of the Sales Representative. These
awareness campaigns are traditionally conducted with direct mail but may
employ alternative methods.
The Sales Representative will be a member
of a team and this may sometimes call for helping fellow team members in
their tasks. And so it follows that the other team members will be
accessible to help the Sales Representative be successful at his/her areas
of responsibility.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in the commercial
building maintenance industry is not required or even preferred. The
Company will provide the necessary basic training and learning tools
required to be successful in this position. Two types of training will be
provided; job specific and general sales.
Previous experience and success in
business-to-business sales in any industry is strongly preferred.
Applicants will benefit by providing references so that prior success in
this area can be verified. Recent college graduates or other new job
entrants will benefit from providing alternative compelling indicators of
future success in outside, business-to-business sales.
TRAINING
Qualified applicants should not
disqualify themselves because they feel that they do not have adequate
industry or sales experience. The willingness to learn and the ability to
enhance existing skills is far more important. The Company is willing to
make a significant training investment for highly motivated and disciplined
professionals.
The training program will be
multi-faceted and interdisciplinary. In part, it will include the
following:
-
sales training featuring Tom Hopkins
on DVD and Brain Tracy on video;
-
sales training in audio and book
formats;
-
industry specific training on
chemical products, commercial cleaning procedures, safety training, and
sales training with modules produced by the Betco Corporation and
Spartan Chemical Company; and,
-
specific training about the industry
both at the Company offices and at Customer locations.
REQUIRED
SKILL SET
Applicants should possess basic personal
computer skills. In this position, Sales Representatives will be using, at
a minimum, the following PC based software:
-
Microsoft Word
-
Microsoft Excel
-
Microsoft Outlook
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer
-
Adobe Reader
Only those candidates who are 100%
comfortable with going out and meeting new people every single day should
apply for this position. This is an outside sales position, not a job of order
taking or account maintenance. The fact that this position requires
frequent interaction with new people should not be taken lightly when
considering it.
You must have the discipline and strong, positive self-image to make
sales calls on new businesses day after day. The
top earning professionals in the sales field are almost always the ones who
make the most sales calls. This position is reserved for someone serious
about becoming a top earning sales professional. This is a very, very
important point that should be seriously considered before taking the next
step. The ability, self-confidence, and discipline to regularly
make sales calls is a critical success factor in this position. You
will not be successful without these traits.
This sales position calls for
professional organizational and follow-up skills. For example, a Sales
Representative must follow general, proven guidelines that ultimately lead
to success in this position. Additionally, with regard to follow-up, Sales
Representatives must do what they say they are going to do. The Sales
Representative will be required to follow a pre-established daily and
monthly record keeping and reporting system.
JOB ADVANTAGES
Braxton Building Maintenance has been in
business for over 21 years and is financially strong and poised for growth.
The company has an enviable reputation and has some of the most prestigious
companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex as customers.
The commercial building maintenance
industry is dynamic and vast. Think about this. When you drive
down the highways and streets in non-residential areas of a city, almost
every building you see is a potential customer for a service provider in
this industry. There are some practical limitations to this but the
point is clear; the opportunity to develop a customer base in this industry
is enormous and lucrative.
This position offers a unique blend of
creative freedom, quick performance feedback, and a sense of project
ownership that few other jobs can. It is an environment in which
self-starting, high-performance individuals thrive. There will be little
supervision and therefore a high degree of self-discipline is essential. A
Sales Representative is accountable for results; i.e., profitable sales and
the essential daily activities that lead to those results.
This job offers a blend of base salary
and commission. The base salary will provide the income in the first few
months that most people need to take care of the basic cost of living while
building the sales base. After the base is built, the commission will give
a dedicated professional the opportunity to be a top earner in future
months.
GUIDELINES FOR ATTIRE AND GENERAL
APPEARANCE
A Sales Representative at Braxton
Building Maintenance must dress
professionally everyday. He/she will be dealing with other business
professionals who will usually make split-second judgments based upon the
initial appearance of the Sales Representative. As the old saying goes,
You only have one chance to make a good first impression. This is
certainly true in this case and therefore first impressions are taken very
seriously.
It costs the Company a significant amount
of money to have a Sales Representative on the payroll. The entire success
or failure of the commencement of a future business relationship can hinge
on the initial meeting and those that follow. Therefore, the Company takes
a firm position on professional attire and only those applicants who intend
to dress professionally everyday should consider this as a potential career
opportunity.
No specific dress code will be given
here. However, if someone wants to know what is considered professional
attire, television newscasters usually set a good example. Noting the
attire of a news correspondent such as MSNBC’s Brian Williams can be
extremely beneficial to a sales professional. Why? Because someone like
Brian Williams has some of the same challenges with his audience that a
sales professional has; viewers must find him believable and authoritative.
In making business-to-business sales, sometimes with contracts of sizable
amounts, the Braxton Building Maintenance Sales Representative must be found
to be believable and authoritative by Prospective Customers.
CODE OF CONDUCT
There is an adage that states; If
honesty did not exist, it would have to be created as the surest way to get
rich. There is a lot of truth in this saying and honesty is a required
character trait to work at Braxton Building Maintenance. The Company will
only consider individuals who can honestly state that they function with
complete integrity and continued employment will depend on it. For example,
the misrepresentation of products or services provided by the company cannot
be tolerated. The Company's reputation is at stake everyday.
All employees must conduct themselves in
a professional manner and with the utmost integrity. This includes but is
not limited to: treating coworkers with respect, being honest in all
matters, exercising the proper use of company resources, being accurate in
communication, and following all applicable laws.
As stated earlier, this is a full-time
position and a full day of production will be required each day. The
Sales Representative must possess the maturity and discipline to
consistently put in a full day of work, even in the face of the
discouragement, disappointment, personal issues, fatigue, or outside
interests. This is a critical success factor.
COMPENSATION
A Sales Representative is compensated in
three ways:
-
$3,000.00 per month in base salary
which is paid
semi-monthly; plus,
-
commissions on actual sales made;
plus,
-
an allowance for the use of a
personal automobile and cellular telephone.
Details on the commission structure will
be provided during the interview process.
